David D. Galer

david-galer-online-qualityDavid D. Galer, age 68, of Fennimore, died on Sunday morning Dec. 4, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. David was born on August 19, 1948 in Lancaster, WI the son of Leonard and Hazel (Cauffman) Galer. He married Roberta Klug on Dec. 20, 1975 in Caledonia, MN.

David has lived in the same house on the Galer family farm almost his entire life. He began farming with his father shortly after high school and he and Roberta eventually purchased the farm in 1989. David was a passionate dairyman who was never afraid to put in a hard days work. He was also a dedicated family man who always made time for them. He never missed a sporting event or activity that his children were involved in and in later years cherished spending time with his grandchildren. David was an avid sports fan who loved to follow his Badgers, Packers and Brewers. He was a fun loving man who truly lived life to the fullest, loved his family with all his heart, and brought laughter to all who knew him.

David is survived by his beloved wife Roberta; two children, Chad (Leslie) Galer of Glenview, IL and Jessica (Damien) White of Boston, MA; two adorable grandchildren Adelynn and Hudson Galer; sisters, Joanne Schmitz, Marilyn (Dan) Digman, Janet (Don) Ready and Sherry (David) Schaefer all of Fennimore; brother and sister in-laws, Tony (Gerry) Klug of Caledonia, MN, Pam (Steve) Savitsky of Oakdale, CT and Mamon (Tom) Hoscheit of Caledonia, MN as well as many special nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Florence Galer, brother Leonard Galer Jr., sisters Darlene Galer and Karen Mortensen and nephews Ricky Galer and John Schmitz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Dec. 9, 2016 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Hermitage Cemetery in rural Mt. Hope. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Thursday evening Dec. 8, 2016 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.
