Karen A. Duffey, age 74, of Fennimore, passed away peacefully Monday October 3rd in the company of family. Karen was born August 21, 1942 in Muscoda the daughter of John and Mary (Gardner) Duffey.
She found her passion through knowledge and reading. Upon graduation from Muscoda High School, she earned her degree in English from what was then Wisconsin State University - Platteville followed by a Master’s in History from the University of New Hampshire. For the years following, she taught both English and History at the middle school level, retiring in 1998 from the Madison Metropolitan School District. She shared her love of books and an appreciation for thought and intellectualism with those she knew and loved. Personally, she enjoyed the company of her friends and cats, the simple pleasure of knitting, and her beloved Chicago Cubs. The family would like to thank, in particular, Christy Chappell, Charity Bray and the rest of the staff at the Good Samaritan Society, Fennimore and Dr. Eric Stader at Grant Regional Health Center for their exemplary care and compassion.
She is survived by her mother Mary Duffey of Fennimore; sister-in-law Patricia Duffey, Muscoda; nieces & nephews Sara & Tom Napp, Fennmore; Ian & Spring Duffey, Janesville and David & Erin Duffey, Saint Paul, MN as well as seven grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father John Duffey (2001) and brother David Duffey (2013).
