Fennimore, WI-Catherine M. Riemenapp, age 96 died on Wednesday May 25, 2016 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. She was born on Aug. 15, 1919 on Irish Ridge in Mt. Hope Township the daughter of James & Nellie (Durnen) O’Shaughnessy. Catherine was united in marriage to Vernon Riemenapp on Nov. 17, 1949 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore.
Catherine graduated from Mt. Hope high school in 1937 and then attended and earned her teaching degree from the Platteville Teachers College. She taught throughout the area in four country schools over her 11-year teaching career until her marriage to Vernon. Together they farmed in the Fennimore area until his untimely death. Catherine then moved to the city of Fennimore where she had been currently residing. Catherine adored her family. She loved watching her grand and great grandchildren. “Grandma CAT” was a wonderful, caring, humble lady and ready to see her family with her arms wide open. She also enjoyed dancing with Vernon, cheering on the Packer’s, crossword puzzles, gardening, canning, and watching the birds and squirrels. Catherine was an active member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Sodality. Catherine’s dedication to her family and her Lord will forever be remembered.
Catherine is survived by her ten children; Jim (Joyce) Riemenapp of Cobb, Norbert (fiancé Cindy Childs) Riemenapp of Dodgeville, JoAnn (Jack) Cauffman of Lancaster, Harold (Peggy) Riemenapp of Hazel Green, Dennis Riemenapp of Boscobel, Dave (Cindra) Riemenapp of Mt. Hope, Maurice (Chris Arms) Riemenapp of Blue River, Dick (Rachel) Riemenapp of Stitzer, Delores (Steve) Bollant of Stitzer, Mary Kay (Jim) Waul of Platteville, 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren along with one great-great granddaughter.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon on March 6, 1983, brother Delbert (Viola) O’Shaughnessy, two grandchildren; Derek Riemenapp and Kelly Cauffman, two nephews; Tom and Patrick O’Shaughnessy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday May 31, 2016 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday May 30, 2016 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00-10:30 A.M. at the funeral home on Tuesday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Catherine M. Riemenapp.
