Highland, WI – Daniel “Danny” Ivan Aultman, 42 years young, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at his residence in rural Highland. He was born Sept. 16, 1972 at Winnebago, IL the son of the late Leland Aultman and Carol (Highbarger) Aultman.
He moved with his family to rural Highland in July of 1977. Dan is a graduate of Iowa-Grant High School. He worked at the Summer Kitchen with James Schroeder as a youth, teenager, and young man. After James’ death, Dan was the owner of Summer Kitchen known for the popular jams and jellies, which he sold at the Dane County Farmers Market in Madison, to grocery stores and other businesses. Many customers came to his farm to buy the well-known product and if Dan was not home they used the honor system to go to his back kitchen to pick out their own item and leave money in a cash box. Dan never was worried someone would not honor this system. He also loved going to the Cranberry Fest at Warren in Sept. to sell product. He was also known for his beautiful flowers around his property. Dan was an expert with his bow and arrow winning many tournament competitions and also for hunting deer and turkey. He also shot an antelope in Montana, and a bear in northern Wisconsin with his bow and arrow recording a video while doing it so he could show his family his accomplishment.
Dan leaves behind his mother Carol Aultman of rural Highland, four brothers; Bradley (Rose) of rural Montfort, Matthew (Debbie) of Livingston, Jeffrey of Mineral Point and Christopher (Erika) of Montfort, special nephew Hayden Aultman, special niece Rohwen Aultman, and six other nieces and nephews; Trevor, Andrea, Jessica, LaSean, Mikayla, Hunter, Caley, and Cody who adored their Uncle Dan, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be greatly missed by his constant canine companion Ruby.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Leland, and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday evening May 11, 2015 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Monday. In keeping with Dan’s wishes, burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later date.
Dan, you will be greatly missed by family, friends, and acquaintances.
