Fennimore, WI-Barbara J. Birchman, age 91, died on Sunday morning May 24, 2015 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. She was born on Feb. 7, 1924 in Fennimore the daughter of Walter & Erma (Maso) Ashmore. Barbara graduated from Fennimore High School and then was united in marriage to John Birchman on April 26, 1947. Barbara lived in Shawno and Beloit after getting married before returning to Fennimore in 1956.
Barbara’s love of cooking for others led her to working in the kitchen for the Fennimore school district for over 20 years. She also enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends and was ready to entertain. Barbara looked forward to the holidays, super bowl parties, or gatherings with close friends. She also liked to travel and was able to visit such places as Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii. Barbara loved working around her home tending to her flowers, sewing, and quilting. She was a dedicated member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Barbara is survived by her two sons; Jeff (Jacque) Birchman of Boscobel, and David (Stephanie) Birchman of Sacramento, CA, two grandchildren; James (Jamie) Birchman and Michael Birchman both of Fennimore, five great grandchildren; Haylie, Haizen, Alex, Brett, Cade, a sister Betty (Joe) Clancy of Sacramento, CA, a brother Dean (Carol) Ashmore of Fennimore along with several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1993, and son Larry Alan in 1972.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday May 28, 2015 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Fennimore. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday May 27, 2015 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Thursday morning.
