BARABOO/MONTFORT - Courtney Marie Shaben, age 32, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening May 10, 2024, at her residence in Baraboo due to her declining health. She was born on October 6, 1991, in Platteville; the daughter of David “Goose” and Tina (Smith) Kite. Courtney was united in marriage to Joe Shaben on October 24, 2014, and then later went their separate ways.
Courtney attended Iowa-Grant High School and then entered the workforce. While in high school, she received her CNA license. Courtney later worked at Land’s End in the embroidery department and at Subway in Mineral Point. She had recently moved from Platteville to Baraboo. In her younger years, Courtney enjoyed going swimming, camping, and jumping on the trampoline. Later in life, she loved socializing with friends, and liked sitting on her porch and listening to it rain. She will be remembered for her strong will and her family knows she has found peace in the arms of her loving family who have gone before.
Courtney is survived by her three children: Karter, Zoey and Lyncoln Shaben; her parents, David “Goose” and Tina Kite; brother, Austin (Jenna) Kite; two nephews, Jaxtyn and Jake Kite; paternal great grandmother, Helen Kite; paternal grandmother, Kathy Kite; maternal grandmother, Diane Duffey; her boyfriend, Justin Stenli; dear friend, Kayla Piligian; and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Courtney was preceded in death by her great grandfather, David Kite; great grandparents, Donald and Eleanor Pluemer and Ralph and Florence Friedricks; and grandfather David “Crocket” Kite.
In lieu plants and flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated.
