Kay A. Fritsch

DODGEVILLE - Kay A. Fritsch, age 67, passed away on Saturday morning February 24, 2024, at her residence after her courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 14, 1957, in Madison, WI; the daughter of Carvor “Cub” and Betty (Wong) Higgins. She was united in marriage to Howard Fritsch on October 18, 1980, in Edmund, WI.

Kay graduated from LaFollette High School in Madison and went to work at WPS Insurance. Kay returned to school and received her paralegal degree from Edgewood. She worked with Archie Simonson until his retirement in 2000 and was then employed at GCL in Madison until her retirement in 2019. Kay fell in love with getting her nails done and took it upon herself to receive her license as a nail technician. Her passion for working on her nails transitioned into a business (Kay’s Nail Nook) at Downtown Barber in Montfort doing gorgeous nails for many.

Kay was a member of the Tri State Chapter of Stilettos on Steel Motorcycle Club and the Equestrian group with Governor Dodge. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles, kayaking, road tripping, gardening, fishing, camping, and sitting outside around a campfire making pudgy pies and smores. Kay had a wonderful heart and soul, along with a wicked sense of humor that will be dearly missed.

Kay is survived by her husband, Howard of Dodgeville, WI; three children: Amy (Shanon) Johnson of Watertown, WI, Robert (Vicki) Fritsch of Montfort, WI, and Ava (Jennifer) Fritsch of Madison; eight grandchildren: Megan, Logan, Abby, Caitlyn, William, Morgan, Patrick, and Johanna; three siblings: Keith Higgins of Fond du Lac, WI, Kari Spencer of Texas, and Bonnie (Mike) Goth of Cottage Grove, WI; along with many nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law Paul and Zereta Fritsch; sister-in-law, Sue Higgins; and a special brother, Jim Lerum.

Thank you to the wonderfully kind and compassionate staff at UW Hospital and Upland Hills HospiceCare for their loving support and care of Kay.
