Phyllis Isabelle Ruehman (January 26, 1934 - January 26, 2024)
Montfort, WI-Phyllis Isabelle Ruehman, born in Chicago, Il. on January 26, 1934, to Gertrude (Amesse) & Edward Ruehman passed away on her 90th birthday, Friday, January 26, 2024, at Upland Hills Hospital in Dodgeville.
She was a loving sister to younger brothers Dale & William. Phyllis’s nieces recall how she imbued every holiday with magic and a sense of celebration.
She was never happier than when she was spending time with her girlfriends, especially life-long friends, Frances DeSimone and Arlene Crisp. They even made an appearance dancing together on The Ray Rayner Show.
Phyllis and her mother frequently summered in Montfort as a retreat from their office jobs in Chicago. After her retirement, Phyllis made Montfort her permanent home.
In Montfort, Phyllis found one of her dearest friends yet, Stacie Dailey - Stacie, Kent, Bryce and Dru quickly and joyfully welcomed Phyllis AKA “Big City” into their family as one of their own. They enjoyed every holiday meal together along with many cookouts, playing board games and watching scary movies together. She was very proud of her bonus grandchildren Bryce and Dru, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the family.
Phyllis is survived by her sister-in-law, Susan Ruehman; nephew, Bill Ruehman; nieces, Kirsten Ruehman, Kari Ruehman, and Ethyl Ruehman; cousin, Jo Anne Graser; and cousin-once-removed, Alanna Kessler-Jones.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, nephews Steven, Keith, Eric, and niece Chris Ruehman.
Honoring the request of Phyllis there will be no services in her honor. Cards of sympathy may be mailed to the Soman-Larson Funeral Home at 203 W. Grant St. Montfort, WI 53569.
