Ruth Ellen Scott, age 66, of Stitzer, WI passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 8, 2023 at University Hospital in Madison. She was born December 28, 1956 in Lancaster to Ralph and Wilma (Allen) Reuter. Ruth graduated from Platteville High School in 1975.
She continued her education at Southwest Technical College in Fennimore and graduated with a clerical degree. Ruth met Gary Scott and they were united in marriage on August 20, 1977. Ruth welcomed Gary’s two sons into their family and then had three children together. Ruth absolutely loved being a stay-at-home mom. Her kind, caring nature, led her to pursue a career as a daycare provider in her home. As time went by, Ruth decided to work at local daycare facilities. She eventually went to work at Walmart in Platteville until her retirement.
Ruth enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She adored her grandchildren. Her kind and selfless nature, big heart and sense of humor made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was grateful for the simple joys in life. She loved baking, music, especially Elvis Presley, dancing, sunsets, romance novels, her garden and flower beds. She brought peace and comfort wherever she went, and her presence will be dearly missed.
Ruth is survived by her children; Theodore “Ted” Scott and wife Sarah Niesen of Madison, Brad Scott and wife Kim Bowman-Scott of Atlanta, GA, Tara Scott (Kyle Collins) of Highland, her step children; John Scott of Madison, and Jason Scott (Molly Kilkenny) of Windsor, three grandchildren; Eryn, Lexi, and Janson Scott, and two step grandchildren; Kemper and Jake Scott, sister Carol (Rick) Parker of Prairie du Chien, brother Larry (Sharon) Reuter of Bloomington, three sisters-in-laws; Connie (Harold) Zeitler of Crosby, MN, Joyce Ley of Livingston, Barbara (Thomas) Youngell of Green Bay, along with several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Tia.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Wilma Reuter, father and mother-in-law Leonard and Agnes Scott, husband Gary Scott on April 18, 2013.
In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Ruth Ellen Scott.
Visitation
Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Funeral Services
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke will be officiating. Food and fellowship will immediately follow the funeral service at the Stitzer United Methodist Church Hall.
Burial Services
Burial will be held at a later date.
