
Gary “Scoof” Freymiller, age 79, of Mt. Ida, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Friday April 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born on August 12, 1943, in Marion Township Grant County WI, the son of Edward and Ruby (Williams) Freymiller. He was united in marriage to Norma Arlene Fry on June 27, 1964, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church.
After marriage, Scoof and Norma moved to West Bend where he worked at Gehl Company. He also worked at his uncle Tom’s small engine shop. In 1974, the family moved to Platteville where Scoof worked for John Deere and had his own small engine business. In 1983, the family moved back to Fennimore where he bought a farm and worked for his dad for Freymiller Farm Services. In 1988, he bought his parent’s home in Mt. Ida, and became owner/operator of Freymiller Farm Services and a dealer for Starline/J-Star farm equipment, later Van Metal.
In his free time Scoof loved to hunt and fish. As well as telling many stories regarding his hunting and fishing adventures. He and Norma spent many years enjoying their cabin in Bagley. Scoof loved to play cards and adhered strictly to the Book of Hoyle. He loved his Massey tractors and there was never an auction he didn’t love.
He is survived by his daughters: Terri Henry (Gene Medeke), Tami (Dennis) Winters, and Tonya (Doug) Hazen, grandchildren: Steven, Steve B., Stephanie, Ashley, Tony, Savannah, Adam, Arranda, Hayleigh, and MaKenna, great grandchildren: Kylin, Egan, Aivyn and, siblings: Marcia Bahl, Pam (Paul) Steinberg, Kevin (Donna) Freymiller, Brenda (Reggie) Hudson, and Galen (Peggy) Freymiller, sisters-in-law: Pam Freymiller, and Pat Fremiller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma Freymiller, brothers: Sydney Freymiller, Lonnie Freymiller and Larry “Stretch” Freymiller.
The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family.
Burial Services
A private family graveside service will be held at the Mt. Ida Cemetery in Mt. Ida Township Grant County, WI.
Celebration of Life
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 22, 2023, from 12:00-4:00 P.M. at the Cottonwood Sports Bar.
