Arthur A. Fremont, age 90, of Mt. Hope, WI passed away on Saturday December 31, 2022, at Orchard Manor in rural Lancaster. He was born on January 1, 1932, the son of Frank and Mae (Bark) Fremont. Arthur was united in marriage to Doris White on August 19, 1955, at the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church.
Arthur graduated from Lancaster High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharged he was engaged in farming until becoming one of the best, yet self-taught, mechanics in the area. Arthur worked at Funk Motors in Lancaster until going to work at Pioneer Motors in Lancaster until his retirement. Having a passion for cars, he also did some costume paint jobs and got involved with being a mechanic for local stock car racing teams. He also liked going camping, spending time at their cabin in Jay’s Landing in Bagley, and loved animals, especially cats. Arthur loved working in his garden and mowing lawn. He would mow numerous lawns throughout the community of Mt. Hope and was very touched by the community honoring his efforts with a gazebo built in his honor.
Arthur is survived by his three children; Pat, Julie, and Steve Fremont, five grandchildren; Dawn Phelps, Chad Phelps, Eric Fremont, Joshua Fremont, and Ashley Landon, six great-grandchildren; Autumn Phelps, Alyssa Phelps, Roman Phelps, Lynea Landon, Bentley Landon, and Charlotte Phillips-Fremont, brothers, and sisters-in-law; Roger (Marjorie) White, and Ruth Brown, Carolyn (Roger) Knapp, along with many nieces and nephews.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, son Rick Fremont, granddaughter Monica Fremont, brother Jim Fremont, brothers, and sisters-in-law: Florence Krachey, Marilyn Crubaugh, and Harold White, Virgil and Beverly White, and Wallace Brown.
Visitation
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday morning.
Memorial Services
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday January 11, 2023, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore, WI.
Burial Services
Burial to follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster, WI with Military Honors.
