Eldon Harlan Washburn, age 84, of Fennimore, WI passed away on Friday December 23, 2022, at the U.W. Hospital in Madison. He was born on April 11, 1938, in Montfort the son of Lee and Alvina (Yerke) Washburn. He spent his early childhood in Mineral Point before moving with his parents in 1950 to a farm in the Mt. Hope area. They later moved to Fennimore where he graduated from Fennimore High School in 1956. He married Norah Stark on June 28, 1956. Three children were born of that union: Cindy, Jeff, and Dan. Eldon was later united in marriage to Linda Alderson on May 24, 1975 and welcomed a son Richard.
After graduation, Eldon worked as an auto mechanic for several years before going to work for the Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, IL in the Quality Control Department. He later joined Advance Transformer in 1970 as the Quality Control Manager until his retirement in 1996. Since his retirement, he enjoyed spending time fishing and boating, spending time with friends, family and traveling. Eldon was a simple man with an infectious laugh and enjoyed helping others.
Eldon is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Linda Washburn of Fennimore, children: Cindy (Mark) Kishel of Cave Creek, AZ, Jeff (Eve) Washburn of Atlanta, GA, Dan Washburn of Phoenix, AZ and Millville, WI, Richard Washburn (Tami VanCura) of Janesville, six grandchildren; Jessica, Brittany, Danielle, Cody, Derek, and Mimi, and four great grandchildren; Zeke, Hawk, Enzo, and Sarai, brother Robert Washburn, and brothers and sisters-in-law; LaVon (Robert) Broihahn, Larry (Diane) Alderson, Loretta Alderson, Loren (Teresa) Alderson, Leone Alderson and Amy Phillips , LeeAnn (Alan) Wagner, Laura (David) Anderson, Leonard Alderson and Jim McDevitt, Lisa Bollant (Jerome Gilles), and Lynn (David) Holzinger, along with many special nieces and nephews.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Shirley Washburn, grandson Colton Washburn, and father and mother-in-law Lawton and Lorraine Alderson.
Visitation
Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.
Funeral Services
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday December 30, 2022, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore.
Burial Services
Burial to follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Fennimore.
