Fennimore – Kathleen A. Stephens, age 68 of Fennimore died on Monday morning Dec. 30, 2013 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Kathleen was born on Feb. 8, 1945 in Boscobel, WI the daughter of Hollis and Beulah (Moen) Nelson. She married Steve Stephens on May 7, 1982 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore.
Following graduation from Fennimore High School in 1963, Kathleen attended Roseland Community School of Radiology in Chicago and graduated in 1965. She worked for many years at Lancaster Memorial Hospital in the radiology department and later at the Grant Community Clinic, and Family Medical Center as a receptionist. Kathleen was dedicated to the health care profession and took great pride in helping others; especially her beloved husband Steve during his battle with Huntington’s disease. She was also very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed camping at Lake Joy for many years with family, friends, and her dog Alli.
Kathleen is survived by her son Craig (Sue) Howell of Belmont, two grandchildren; Dawson and Kennedy Sue Howell, her brother Dick (Elaine) Nelson of Fennimore, in-laws Clinton and Milly Stephens of Fennimore, and brother and sister-in-laws; Milt (Cathy) Stephens of Oregon, WI, Kim (Vicki) Stephens of Marshall, MN, and Suzanne Stephens of Idaho.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Steve on May 19, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Jan. 3, 2014 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Pastor Jeff VandenHeuvel will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 4 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening Jan. 2, 2014 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning.
