Fennimore, WI-Joyce Irene Walker, age 85 died on Monday evening Jan. 14, 2013 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. Joyce was born on Aug. 2, 1927 in Mt. Ida the daughter of Wesley & Aurelia (Riley) Walker.
Joyce graduated from Fennimore High School and then moved to Madison. Upon returning home, Joyce took care of her grandparents until going to work at the Southwest Library System in Fennimore in the 1970’s. Following her retirement, Joyce adored her family and neighbors and enjoyed helping out with babysitting. She liked working on puzzles, going to family activities, and supporting family and neighborhood children at their sporting events and other activities. She was an avid Brewer and Packer fan, a member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church and the Fennimore American Legion Auxiliary. Joyce had been currently residing at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society but greatly missed her neighbors over the past years.
Joyce is survived by her two sisters; Phyllis Paradise of Winslow, AZ, Mary Lou (Jerry) Barns of Menomonee Falls, WI and several special nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother; James Walker, and sister; Mrs. Richard (Geraldine) Kreul.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Friday Jan. 18, 2013 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Dwight Parker Public Library in Fennimore in loving memory of Joyce I. Walker. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
