Barbara L. Howell

Fennimore, WI-Barbara L. Howell, age 97, of Fennimore, died on Thursday Sept. 27, 2012 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. She was born on Oct. 17, 1914 in Little Grant Twsp. Grant Co, WI the daughter of Floyd & Martha (Angelette) Budd. Barbara was united in marriage to Albert “Bert” Howell on July 30, 1934 in Galena, IL.

Barbara attended Fennimore High School and then worked at Burgess Battery Factory in Platteville until being employed at Parker Pen in Fennimore. When she and Bert started their family, Barbara stayed home raising her family. As her family grew, she attended Southwest Technical College and became a Nurses Aide. She then worked at Orchard Manor until being employed at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society as one of their first nursing aides until her retirement. Barbara loved to stay busy crocheting, knitting and enjoyed traveling throughout the country visiting her family.

Barbara is survived by her five children; June Miller of Hugoton, KS; Buddy Howell of San Francisco, CA; Nancy (Ron) Unash of Arnold, MO, Linda (Eugene) Sabourin of Pewaukee, WI, Mary Ann (James) Heit of Simi Valley, CA; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law; Eve (Bob) Reuter of Kewaskum, WI, sister-in-law; Daisy Vogel of Fennimore, WI.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Albert on March 15, 1986, two sons; Danny and Larre Howell; grandson; Lance Howell, three brothers; Reed, Ruel, and Duane Budd, two sisters; Janice Forrand, and Jean Edge, and a son-in-law, Ted Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday Oct. 1, 2012 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8:00 P.M. on Sunday evening Sept. 30, 2012 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Monday morning.  In lieu of plants and flowers memorials may be given to the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society, the Fennimore Rescue Squad, or the Grant Co. Center on Aging in loving memory of Barbara L. Howell.
