Mabel A. Fry


Fennimore, WI-Mabel Ann Fry, age 93, of Fennimore died on Saturday afternoon Sept. 29, 2012 at Boscobel Care and Rehabilitation in Boscobel. Mabel was born on June 7, 1919 in Mt. Hope the daughter of Lee & Laura (Baker) Cauffman. She was united in marriage to Lewis “Carlyle” Fry on Nov. 4, 1935 in Galena, IL.

Mabel and Carlyle farmed in the Fennimore area from 1930 until retiring in 1980. She enjoyed milking the cows, dancing and playing cards. Mabel also liked working in her large garden and canning the fresh produce.

Mabel is survived by her 4 children; Carl Fry of Fennimore, Jane Diece of Baraboo, Larry (Betty) Fry of Monona, and Norma (Gary) Freymiller of Fennimore, 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, and a sister Laura (Stanley) Walker of Boscobel, WI.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Carlyle on Jan. 2, 1999, son; Leo, infant son; Roger, grandson; Gary Burton Jr., daughter-in-law; Mina Fry, 6 sisters; Cora Goodrich, Hazel Galer, Marcella Coleman, Agnus Cauffman, Iva McLean, and Virginia Toberman, and two brothers; Lester and Jack Cauffman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M on Wednesday Oct. 3, 2012 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Pastor Duane Andrus will be officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
