Wencle H. “Jr.” Foyt, age 80, of Stitzer, passed away on Monday evening Dec. 3, 2018 at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on Jan. 7, 1938 Boscobel the son of Wencle Vandy & Elvira Agnes (Johanning) Foyt. Jr. was united in marriage to Lavon VanNatta on June 20, 1961 at the St. John Nepomuc Catholic Church in Castle Rock.
Jr. grew up on a farm near Avoca and then in 1953, his parents moved to Castle Rock where they had purchased the local grocery store. In 1956, Jr. enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed in South Korea, until being honorable discharged in 1959. He went to work for American Motors in Kenosha until his marriage to Lavon and moved to Fennimore and purchased a filling station. Operating that for only a few years, Jr. bought a truck and became a 7-UP distributor. He ended up driving trucks for various companies for the next 12-15 years. In 1979, Jr. and Lavon purchased the local tavern in Stitzer and moved there. They ran the bar for 19 years along with driving his truck routes. Jr. was a member of the Highland VFW and worked very hard throughout his life. His love the community of Stitzer and its residence will forever be cherished.
Jr. is survived by his wife Lavon of Stitzer, two sons; Joe (Dawn) Foyt of Mt. Hope, Larry (Kelly) Foyt of Chillicothe, MO, four grandchildren; Christine (Nathan) Schilling of Key West, FL, Courtney (Ben) Olivier of Waukesha, Zachary and Riley Foyt both of Chillicothe, MO, four great grandchildren; Carter and Lennyn Olivier and Amelia and Molly Schilling, and a step granddaughter Karissa O’Connell, of Miami, FL, brother James (Madelyn) Foyt of Lancaster, sister Janet Biba of Cobb, along with several nieces and nephews.
Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, sister JoAnn Nowak and brother-in-laws Jack Nowak and Jerry Biba.
At the request of the family, there will be no memorial services at this time. A graveside service at the Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster along with Military Honors will be held at a later date. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
