Wayne R. Ploessl

CASSVILLE - Wayne R. Ploessl, age 72, passed away on Tuesday July 30, 2024, at his residence in rural Cassville with his beloved family by his side. He was born on August 28, 1951, in Lancaster the son of Ralph and Margaret (McCartney) Ploessl. He was united in marriage to Colleen Kowalski on June 7, 2008.

Wayne graduated from Bloomington High School in 1969. His passion was farming, and he farmed his whole life. It wasn’t work to him, he loved being outside on his tractor, and working the land. Wayne also worked for Jimmy Kirschbaum at Kirschbaum farms. In his spare time, he liked going horseback riding, hunting, fishing, playing euchre and tinkering in his garage. You also might find Wayne, having a “cold one”, with his many friends. Wayne adored his family, especially his grandchildren, and made sure to attend all their extracurricular activities. Wayne took great pride in his community and was an active member of the Cassville Lions Club and a 30-year member of the Glen Haven Fire Department. Wayne will be remembered for his warm personality, big smile, and his love of farming.

Wayne is survived by his wife Colleen of Cassville, two children; Luke (Darcy) Ploessl of Holmen, WI and Katie (Kemp) Styron of Beaufort, NC, two step children; Shelly (James) Moon of Cassville, and Jacob (Nichol McDonald) Vogt of Cassville, five grandchildren; Caden, Gage, Braylen, and Aspen Ploessl, and Emma Kate Styron, and four step grandchildren, Brielle and William Baliff, and Grace and Jonah Vogt, and a great grandson Abel Kuehl. He is further survived by his brother Roger (Barb) Ploessl and Cindy Osterhaus both of Glen Haven along with many special nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, infant brother Timothy, brothers, Dennis and Bruce Ploessl, and sister Nancy Grabow, and his brother-in-law Larry Osterhaus.
