Trudith “Trudy” A. Runde

MADISON / LANCASTER – Trudith “Trudy” A. Runde, age 80, passed away on Tuesday July 29, 2025, at home. She was born in Lancaster on February 27, 1945, to Aelred and Pearl (Bass) Runde.

Trudy grew up on a farm in Lancaster and graduated from Lancaster High School. After high school, Trudy moved to Madison and never looked back. She enjoyed everything the city had to offer, especially having everything she needed right at her fingertips.

In her younger years, Trudy enjoyed fishing and taking trips to Canada. She played on a coed softball league for about 15 years and looked forward to “Margarita Tuesday’s” with her friends. She also loved taking bus trips – or as she liked to call them “adventures”.

Trudy had a creative side. She was big into ceramics, especially painting them and decorating them for Christmas. She loved to gift them to her family and friends. Trudy also made jewelry and loved baking and cooking. She had an extensive collection of cookbooks that she used every day. One of her favorites (and most competitive) traditions was building gingerbread houses with her dear friend Janice. She spent days ahead of time shopping, gathering, and planning.

She was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and loved everything to do with the Green Bay Packers. She enjoyed Badger sports and Milwaukee Brewers baseball. Trudy had a soft place in her heart for animals of every kind, but she especially loved horses. She was a longtime supporter of the ASPCA. In her recent years, and with the help of her niece Kristal, Trudy found a new favorite television show to watch, the Stargate series, which she enjoyed watching in her down time.

Trudy is survived by her brothers Larry (Judy) Runde and Terry Runde; nieces and nephew: Amy Runde, Walter Runde, Shannon (Mark) Broker, Kristal Runde, and Karen (Mike) Jeardeau; and great niece and nephew, Kaylee and Tyler Broker. She was preceded in death by her parents.
