FENNIMORE - Thomas (Tom) Joseph Schwebach was born August 22, 1963, to Ambrose John and Evelyn Ida (Ahlers) Schwebach of Dumont, MN. Tom was baptized on September 1, 1963, and confirmed in the faith on March 12, 1978, at St. Patrick’s Church in Collis, MN. He grew up near Graceville, MN on the family farm and graduated from Graceville High School. Tom was united in marriage with Roxanne Lynn (Zach) at Holy Rosary Church in Graceville, MN on May 25th, 1985.
From this union, Tom and Roxanne were blessed with five children: Eric, Christopher, Joshua, Brittany, and Isaiah. Tom’s Catholic faith was the foundation of how he lived and worked. Frequenting the sacraments by receiving Jesus in the Eucharist, being reconciled through Confession, saying morning and evening prayers, including the daily Rosary with his wife, and spending time in Adoration were his greatest treasures. Tom was blessed to work at the Carmel of Mary monastery in Wahpeton, ND, where he learned the Carmelite way of prayer and grew close to the sisters, who were very dear to his heart. In the months leading up to his death, he was strongly drawn to the beauty and prayers of the Traditional Latin Mass.
Tom loved to spend time with family and friends. He was an amazing storyteller and could easily recount all the details of his childhood and high school adventures. He often showed the grandkids how to tinker, lick the ice cream bowl clean, and make weird expressions. Singing, eating ice cream, working with farm animals, and smoking meat were some things that he truly loved.
Tom and Eric started their own construction business in 2004. In 2014, they moved the business to Fennimore, WI. When Christopher’s family moved to Wisconsin in 2018, he joined Schwebach Construction. Tom was so proud to be able to work alongside his boys. He modeled the craftsmanship of St. Joseph, whom they took for their patron saint. Looking out for the customer by providing quality workmanship and a pleasing final product that would last many years was his focus for each and every job that they completed.
Tom Schwebach is survived by his wife Roxanne of 40 years; his children: Eric (Colleen) Schwebach and Christopher (Emma) Schwebach of Fennimore, WI; Joshua (Catherine) Schwebach of Lidgerwood, ND; and Brittany Schwebach of Fargo, ND; 13 grandchildren; his siblings: Shirley (John) Tritz of Dumont, MN; Paula (Edward) Baxter and Joanne (Dale) Marihart of Graceville, MN; Jeanne (Chuck) Meidl of Barrett, MN; his sister-in-law Renee (James) Schwebach of Dumont, MN.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose & Evelyn Schwebach; his son, Isaiah; his brother: James (Jim) Schwebach; four grandchildren lost in miscarriage.
