Steven L . Zart

Steven L. Zart, age 57, of Fennimore, died on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 3, 2017, at UW Hospital in Madison. Steven was born on Feb. 5, 1960, in Lancaster, WI the son of Robert and Norma (Burton) Zart. He married Eileen VanNatta on Oct. 14, 2000.

Following graduation from Fennimore High School in 1978, Steve began farming with his brothers in Mt. Ida Township. He had a passion for farming and especially enjoyed looking after his dairy cattle. Steve was a simple man who enjoyed the little things in life like Sunday rides to scout out the crops, enjoying a cold beer on the flatbed of his ford truck, fishing, a Packer’s win, telling stories around a campfire and above all else, making memories with his grandchildren. He was spontaneous in everything he did and would always find time to help a friend or neighbor in need. His generosity, dedication to family and love for farming will forever be cherished.

Steven is survived by his wife Eileen of Fennimore; three children, Sarah Halfhill of Dubuque, IA, Kevin (Chelsey) Zart of Fennimore and Megan Zart of Fennimore; step-children, Jessica Nelson of Boscobel, Kyle Nelson of Madison, Curtis Nelson of Madison, Daniel Nelson, Rebecca Nelson (Fiance Kendall Tempski) and Tonya (Jason) Waterman all of Fennimore; 13 grandchildren, Kali, Cassie, Elijah, Amber, Isaiah, Kate, Kadance, Xander, Kendrick, Harper, Kyle Jr., Tatum and Parker; siblings, Glenn (Linda) Zart of Fennimore, Beverly (Jerome) Laugeson of Fennimore, Shirley (Joe) Devlin of Mt. Hope, Alan (Ernie) Zart of Fennimore, Susan (Brian) Pennekamp of Stitzer, Jim Zart (Janet Blindert) of Fennimore and John Zart (Amy Prochaska) of Fennimore, and mother-in-law Arlene VanNatta of Platteville.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Zart.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening, Dec. 8, 2017, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. A time of sharing and remembrance will follow visitation at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Steven L. Zart.
