Cuba City, WI - Stanley R. Griffiths, age 65, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning Sept. 10, 2016, at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. Stan was born on May 14, 1951, in Dodgeville the son of Robert & Ruby (Brown) Griffiths. He was united in marriage to Sue Oellerich on Jan. 23, 2008, in Grand Island, FL.

Shortly after graduating from High School, Stan joined the U.S. Air Force in 1970 at the age of 19. He proudly served his country for 20 years as an ammunitions specialist, retiring as a Tech Sgt. in 1990. Stan continued his life of service after returning home to Linden. He was a member of the Linden American Legion Post #493, Mineral Point VFW Post #7629 and the Linden Fire Department and First Responders. He took great pride in organizing community events including the building and dedication of the Linden Veterans Memorial. Stan was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on the Cubs, Packers and Badgers. Stan and Sue were the love of each other’s lives. Together they enjoyed fishing, traveling to different ballparks throughout the country and holding countless family cookouts. Stan was a quiet gentle man who could bring a smile to anyone’s face. His selfless dedication to his family, country, and community will forever be cherished. By Stan choosing to be an organ and tissue donor, his generosity continues even after his death.

Stan is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate Sue Griffiths of Cuba City, three children; Paula Griffiths of Portland, OR, Michael (Kristin) Oellerich of Brodhead and Lindsay (Paul) Taber of Platteville, his beloved dog Cricket, eight grandchildren; his little sidekick Mason Oellerich, Stella and Jayda Oellerich, Michael, Joshua, Dylan and Lucas Taber, and Austin Thoma, mother Ruby Griffiths of Linden, sister Linda Nichols of Linden, two brothers; Steve Griffiths of Linden and Todd (Lori) Griffiths of Montfort, mother and father-in-law; Nellie and Duane Furrer of Platteville, brother-in-law Tom Furrer (Gina Trollop) of Fennimore, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his father Robert, son Eric Griffiths, maternal grandmother Alice Rowe, brother-in-law Charlie Nichols, and sister-in-law Debbie Griffiths.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday Sept. 14, 2016 at the Linden United Methodist Church. Private family burial of the remains will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday evening. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Stan Griffiths. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home of Montfort is assisting the family.
