Shirley “LaVon” Hahn, age 92, of Fennimore, died on Tuesday morning Dec. 15, 2015 at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster. LaVon was born on June 6, 1923 in Grant County, WI the daughter of George and Gladys (Hickin) Foreyt. She married Cletus Hahn on Oct. 7, 1944 in Milwaukee.
After the war she and Cletus moved back to Fennimore where she lived in her own home until August 2015. LaVon was a cook for Fennimore Schools for several years before joining Cletus in the family business, H&N Plumbing and Heating, upon the death of Cletus’ partner. She worked at H&N until retiring in 1995. She was a long time member of the Fennimore United Methodist Church and very active in the women’s society until the past few years.
LaVon is survived by her three children; Norman (Fran) Hahn of Mt. Horeb, Sandra (Ardell) Henkel of Fennimore, and Donna (Joe) Grimme of Fennimore, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three step great-granddaughters, brother Ronald (Carol) Foreyt of Cottage Grove, sister Eleanor Georgeson of Poynette, as well as several nieces and nephews.
LaVon was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cletus on July 21, 1999, two brothers; Vivian and Roland Foreyt, and three sisters; Dorothy Gratz, Dolores Kuntz, and Gloria Abendroth.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Dec. 18, 2015 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Rev. William “Bud” Budzinski will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers memorials may be given to the Fennimore Veterans Memorial Fund in loving memory of LaVon Hahn.
