Shirley Ann Conley, 90, of Fennimore passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, December 4, 2022, after a short battle with AML (acute myeloid leukemia).
She was born October 31, 1932, to Gordon and Elnora (Smith) Arneson, in Scott Township, Crawford County, WI. She attended and graduated from Boscobel High School in 1952. After high school, she worked at the UW Hospital in Madison, until her marriage to George Conley on July 1, 1953. They farmed in Woodman Township for 50 years, before retiring to Fennimore in 2005.
Shirley was a member of the Altar Society at St Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Mt Hope, she was also a 4-H leader for 21 years, employed at Lands’ End for 5 years and at Advance Transformer for 3 years. She sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren as well as created over one hundred quilts in her lifetime along with crocheting and knitting hundreds of items for family and friends. Shirley was an excellent baker, making many cookies and treats for the family over the years. She loved spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were the apples of her eye.
Shirley is survived by her children: Pam Conley of Fennimore, Dennis (Ellen) Conley, Fennimore, Brian Conley (Sandy Reiser), Apple River, IL; Diane (Roger) King, Fall Creek; LuAnn (Paul) Fuerstenberg, DeForest; Mark (Liisa Saari), Waterloo, WI; grandchildren: Trevor Lyster, Emilee (John) Scheid, Joshua (Andrea) Conley, Benjamin and Brandon Conley, Ryan (Megan) King, Nathan (Clare) King, Trey (Ashley) King, Drew King, Derek, Sarah and Jacob Fuerstenberg, Sophia Conley, 14 great grandchildren, sisters: Mary Grossbier, Nekoosa and Edna Hoffman, Lancaster, brothers: Leroy (Sandra) Arneson, AZ and Rodney (Linda Wilson), Lancaster, and other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, husband George, granddaughters: Lacey Conley and Breanne Conley-Klar, brothers: Gordon, Virgil, Harold, Floyd, Howard, Lloyd and Leland, and sister, Lorraine Jones.
Visitation
Visitation will be held from 3-6:30 P.M on Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church hall on Monday morning.
Funeral Services
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday December 12, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore.
Burial Services
Burial to follow in the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church Cemetery, Mt Hope, WI.
