Scott Donald Ransom

Scott Donald Ransom, age 58, of Fennimore passed away on Friday morning May 15, 2020 at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born on March 28, 1962 in Lancaster the son of Donald and Nelda (Feakes) Ransom.

Scott attended Fennimore High School in the class of 1980. He was a very hard worker and became a licensed cheese maker for many years. He was employed at the Preston Cheese Factory and the Fennimore Cheese Factory. Scott later worked at Schwan’s Enterprises for five years until being employed at Eagle Cave Resort since 2006. Scott enjoyed tinkering with electronics and small engines along with working on old cars. Spending time with his family was deeply cherished especially with his children, grandchildren. He was a simple man with the biggest heart who loved watching movies, playing with their dogs, or just going for a drive.

Scott is survived by the love of his life and lifetime partner of 34 years, Marcia Gumtow of Fennimore, three daughters; Jacqueline (Troy) Bresee of Lancaster, Jessica Gumtow (David Bull) of Mt. Hope, Jennifer (Tim) Rice of Fennimore, 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild with two on the way, two sisters; Joyce (Steve) Peckham of Albuquerque, NM, and Susan (Stan) Klais of Winter, WI.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Nelda, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private burial of his cremated remains will be held at the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. A “Celebration of Life” in memory of Scott will be held at the Eagle Cave Resort in rural Blue River, WI to be announced at a later date.
