Robert F. Moon

Robert MoonMount Hope – Robert F. Moon, age 95, died on Wednesday morning Jan. 20, 2016 at his residence in Mt. Ida Township. Robert was born on August 21, 1920 in Stitzer, WI the son of George and Mina (Michel) Moon. He married Mary Thompson on March 24, 1945 in Platteville, WI.

Following graduation from Platteville High School, Bob received two years of on the farm training from the University of Wisconsin. He served as a Marine in the Pacific Theater during WWII earning both a certificate for bravery and a Purple Heart. Bob farmed his entire life and his registered Guernsey herd on the HI-Y Guernsey Farm was known through not only the state, but the country. Bob was a member of the Dairy Shrine Club, Wisconsin Guernsey Breeders, American Guernsey Association, and the Fennimore American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and traveling throughout the United States with his wife Mary. Bob was an honest hardworking man and his love of family will forever be cherished.

Robert is survived by his son Shasta Moon of Mount Hope, grandchildren Melanie (Mark) Cuper of Clear Lake, WI and Justin (Jenny) Moon of Mount Hope, two great- grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary of Dec. 13, 2001, brothers; Earl, Lavern, Donald, Gerald and Roy Moon and sisters Emily Moon and infant Mildred Moon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday Jan. 25, 2016 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon Jan. 24, 2016 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Monday morning.
