Richard W. “Dick” Turner, age 88 of Montfort, WI, died on Friday morning June 29, 2018, at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. Richard was born on Jan. 15, 1930 in Montfort the son of Leslie and Emily (Webster) Turner. He married Madonna Hill on July 31, 1955.
After graduating from Montfort High School in 1948, Richard attended UW-Platteville where he received a degree in education. He then entered the US Army and served two years in Frankfurt Germany as a Military Police Officer. Upon returning home, Richard taught school for 15 years. He then decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and became a meat cutter, working at Neesvig’s in Madison until retiring in 2001 at the age of 72. After the death of his wife in 2002, Richard moved back to Montfort. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and working out to stay in shape but above all, spending time with family was his greatest joy.
Richard is survived by his three children; Rick Turner of La Crosse, WI, Cary (Laurie) Turner of Onalaska, WI, and Julie Ann Turner of Dubuque, IA; five grandchildren, Brande Turner of Prairie du Chien, Brian Turner of La Crosse, Jamie Turner of La Crosse, Natalie Andrew (Ben Gorter) of Des Moines, IA and Chelsea (Joe) Rizzio of Cedar Rapids, IA and two great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Madonna, brothers Lawrence and Wendell Turner and sisters Molly Davis and Marion Moffett.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday July 3, 2018 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort. Burial with military honors will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Montfort. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday morning.
