Richard A. Peat Jr.

Richard Peat Jr.Montfort – Richard A. Peat Jr., age 68 of Montfort and formerly of Muscoda died on Wednesday July 31, 2013 at his residence in rural Montfort.  Richard was born on March 16, 1945 in rural Grant Co., WI the son of Richard Sr. and Melva (Whitish) Peat.  He married Sharon Adams on Feb. 24, 1979 in Lone Rock, WI.

Richard attended Iowa-Grant High School before going to work for Midwest Silo.  He then moved to Muscoda and worked as a welder at Universal Silencer from 1979 until his retirement in 2006.  He later moved to rural Montfort where he enjoyed living in the county.  Richard was a hard working man who looked forward to spending his weekends camping, riding his motorcycle, attending country music concerts, hunting, and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers with friends and family.  Richards lasting energy and special songs for his grandchildren will forever be cherished.

Richard is survived by his children; Wade (Jodi) Peat and their children Angelina and Wyatt of Cobb, Waylon (Sarah) Peat and their children Mackenzie and Harmony of Tomah, Warren (Laura) Peat and daughter Trinity of Avoca, and Darcy (Matt) DeVries and their children Cassie and Courtney of Edgerton, and Dennis, Dave and Kathy Peat all of WI; sisters; Ruby Watchorn of Highland, Wilma McCartney of Lancaster, Loretta (Harold) Rule of Cerritos, CA, Helen Lee of Ridgeway, and Shirley (Doug) McCartney of Livingston, brother Ralph Peat of Patch Grove, several nieces and nephews, and special friends Doug and Bev Halverson of Rewey

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Lisa, brothers; Gary and Raymond Peat, and brother-in-laws; Walter Lee, Henry Watchorn, and Gerald McCartney.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday August 3, 2013 at the Soman Larson Funeral Home in Montfort.  Pastor Gary Benzschawel of the Montfort United Methodist Church will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rock Church Cemetery in Clifton Twsp., Grant Co.   A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home on Saturday morning.
