Reverend Floyd L. Turner

Rev Floyd TurnerLivingston, WI-Reverend Floyd L. Turner, age 97, died on Saturday March 14, 2015 at Bloomfield HealthCare in rural Dodgeville. Floyd was born on Feb. 11, 1918 in Wauzeka the son of Herbert and Mary Jeanette “Nettie” (McMurray) Turner. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Horkheimer on June 21, 1950 in Wauzeka.

After serving in WWII and being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, Floyd attended and received his degree in Theology from God’s Bible College in Cincinnati. Floyd went to work in Westby and preached at the Assembly of God until moving and joining his brother in the sand & gravel business in Boscobel. He later purchased the business and moved to Cassville in 1963 along with preaching, as an assistant pastor, for the Baptist Church of Cassville. Floyd also looked forward to his annual month long trips to Mexico to help build hospitals and churches. He and Dorothy also loved working with the Platteville School District as foster grandparents. He was dedicated to his work and his church until retiring from the concrete business and moving to Livingston in 1985. As the years went by, Floyd loved sharing the Lord’s gospel with the residence of the local nursing homes throughout the area. Floyd deeply adored his family, working in the garden, canning, photography, cooking, collecting stones, making movies, and playing board games, especially Checkers and Monopoly.

Floyd is survived by his eight children; Jeanette Biermann of Atlanta, TX, John (Kay) Turner of Soldiers Grove, Becky (Ken) Cornell of Paddock Lake, James (Rita) Turner of Madison, Rachel (Tom “Archi”) Archibald of Redwing, MN, Joyce (Godwin) Teed of Cincinnati, OH, Floyd Turner of Barneveld, Stephen (Patricia) Turner of Cincinnati, OH, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, two infant sons; Glen and John, an unnamed infant son, daughter Ruth Deiter, son Michael Turner, two infant grandchildren; Joshua Goke and Stephanie Turner, and siblings; Herbert, Joyce, Agnes, Vangie, and Cecil.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday March 21, 2015 at Livingston Free Methodist Church in Livingston. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rock Church Cemetery in rural Livingston. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday evening March 20, 2015 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Saturday morning.
