Mary E. Schultz, age 86, of Fennimore, WI, passed away on to the next life surrounded by her family on Friday May 27, 2022, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing in Fennimore. She was born July 12, 1935, in Platteville, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Logan) Burkholder.
Mary was a very hard worker her entire life. She worked as a laborer for many years along with taking care of children throughout the community. Mary was a grandmother to many. In the early 1990’s, she owned and operated the Rolling Pin Bakery in Fennimore. She was a Sunday school teacher as well as a foster grandmother for over 50 years. Mary was the “town dog grandma” and could be seen either walking a dog or driving the city streets in her blue car with her dog. She enjoyed John Wayne movies, Bingo, Euchre, the Packers and talking about the latest current events. She was very alert and active person with strong convictions. She will be missed by her family.
Mary is survived by her three children: Jacqueline (Rodney) Wehrle of Fennimore, Rochelle Salisbury of Lancaster, Shannon (Jamie) Schultz of Fennimore, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and sister-in-law Delores Burkholder of Platteville.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Rodger “Buddy” Horner and Floyd Schultz, two sons: Rodger and James “Jim” Horner, four brothers: David, Clifford, Arnold and James Burkholder, sister: Beatrice Williams, son-in-law: Marvin Salisbury, mother and father-in-law: Sophie and Rodger Horner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore with burial to follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Platteville, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church Wednesday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
