Mary E. O’Brien, age 87, of Mt. Hope died on Friday Feb. 23, 2018 at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Mary was born on Sept. 14, 1930 in Mt. Hope the daughter on Louis and Vera (Collins) O’Brien.
Mary did maternal homecare for various families throughout the Mt. Hope area until going to work at 3M in Prairie du Chien. She was employed there for 26 years until retiring in 1992. Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and loved being outside spending time with her two Russell Terriers. She also liked spending time with family at reunions and picnics. Mary was a member of the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church and the Altar Sodality.
Mary is survived by her eight siblings; Dolores Gilberts of Madison, Geraldine Peterson of Madison, Gerald (Gladys) O’Brien of Fennimore, Clement (Wanda) O’Brien of Mt. Hope, Betty Whiteaker of Fennimore, Jean (Richard) Roethe of Sun Prairie, David (Karen) O’Brien of Mt. Hope, Richard (Bonnie) O’Brien of Mt. Hope, 22 nieces and nephews, 30 great nieces and nephews, and 3 great great nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sister Beatrice (James) Shea, nephew Brian Gilberts, niece Bernadette Keul, and an infant great niece Ashlyn Erstad
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday Feb. 28, 2018 at the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Mt. Hope Township, Grant Co., WI with burial to follow in the church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:30-10:30 A.M. on Wednesday morning at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore.
