Mary A. Nowak, age 91, of Fennimore, WI passed away on Wednesday March 1, 2023, at the Lancaster Health Services in Lancaster. She was born on October 20, 1931, in Hickory Grove Township Grant County, WI the daughter of Edward and Lena (Wienkes) Rasque.
Mary graduated from Boscobel High School in 1948. She worked as the bookkeeper of Parker-Hildebrand Department Store in Boscobel for two years until her marriage to Bernard Nowak on May 25, 1950. They farmed on Castle Rock Ridge for 42 years until retirement and moved to Fennimore. She worked as the head bookkeeper of CESA 3 in Fennimore for 23 years. Mary was an avid bowler having several 600 series. She also enjoyed golf, dancing, and playing cards. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the St. Anne’s Altar Society, Fennimore Finest Red Hat Club, and the Crazy Eight 500 club.
Mary is survived by her three children: Steven (Karla) Nowak of Montfort, Mark Nowak of Fennimore, and Karen (George) Banfi of Madison, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, brother Donald Rasque of Anaheim, CA. Mary is further survived by her two daughter-in-laws: Peg (Jeff) Meyer of Madison, and Michelle (Ron) Newman of Verona and their families.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard on December 2, 1997, two sons Dennis Nowak in 1980, and Edward Nowak in 2022, along with her two brothers Paul and Julian Rasque.
Following the committal service at the cemetery the family invites everyone for food and fellowship at the Castle Rock Inn.
Visitation
Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Wednesday morning at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall.
Funeral Services
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday March 8, 2023, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore.
Burial Services
Burial to follow in the St. John Nepumuc Catholic Church Cemetery in Castle Rock Township Grant County, WI.
