Margaret I. Knapp, age 92, of Mount Hope, WI passed away on Friday January 15, 2021 at her residence one day before her 93rd birthday. She was born on January 16, 1928 in Rockville, WI the daughter of Alfred and Irene (Shaw) Klein. Margaret was united in marriage to Cecil Knapp on December 14, 1946 in Lancaster.
In her younger years, Margaret was employed at the Mount Hope Cheese Factory along with helping out on the farm with the daily chores. She was later employed at the West Grant School District as a cook for 35 years until her retirement. Margaret adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest fan and was always in the stands cheering them on. Margaret also enjoyed baking, and made numerous baked goods for her family and community events. She loved to sit down and play a game of cards with family and friends, along with giving everyone a dose of her quick wit. Margaret’s love of family, and enjoyment of spending time together with be cherished forever.
Margaret is survived by her four children; Patricia (Don) Cree of Beckley, WV, Charles Knapp of Catawba, Larry (Linda) Knapp and Ron (Kathy) Knapp both of Mount Hope, eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, two brothers; Jerry (Diane) Klein of Dodgeville, Edward (Sherry) Klein of Mount Hope, and two sisters; Mary (Al) Ross of Monroe, IA and Betty Christopherson of Deforest along with several special nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil, daughter-in-law Carol Knapp, three brothers; Donald, Dale, and Richard Klein, and two sisters; Dorothy Dresen and Janice Porkepile.
A private funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday afternoon January 23, 2021 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Hermitage Cemetery in Mount Hope. A public visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday. The wearing of facemasks will be required. Please wear Wisconsin sports apparel (Packers, Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, or your favorite high School team).
