Lee G. Howell

Lee HowellLee G. Howell, age 76, of Bagley, died on Sunday June 27, 2016, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Lee was born on Sept. 5, 1939, in Lancaster, WI, the son of Cecil and Ramona (Boyd) Howell.

Lee graduated from Fennimore High School in 1957. He then attended the mining college in Platteville until being hired at John Deere in Dubuque, IA. Lee worked at John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1987, at the age of 48. He was a member of the UAW of Dubuque and the Bagley American Legion. During his retirement, Lee resided in Bagley and loved spending time on the river fishing, especially for walleye. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan who always flew his flag after a win. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt. Lee enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but spending time with his grandchildren is what he lived for the most. His big heart and generosity will forever be cherished.

Lee is survived by his son Craig (Sue) Howell of Belmont, two grandchildren, Dawson and Kennedy, sisters, Mary (Tom) Gleason of Fennimore, Marilyn Venden of Fennimore and Marge (Werner) Siegenthaler of Boscobel and brother Lenny Howell of Westfield, WI.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Ray Venden, special niece Jennifer Jo Gleason and twin great nieces Morgan and Shelby Gleason.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. Burial with military honors will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday morning.
