Larry G. Herpel

Larry G. Herpel, age 86, of Duluth, MN formerly of Fennimore, WI died on Wednesday Nov. 14, 2018 at the Chris Jenson Rehabilitation Center in Duluth, MN. He was born on November 5, 1932 in Richland County the son of Lawrence and Mildred (Hardy) Herpel. He was united in marriage to Darlus (Martin) Herpel and was remarried to Vangie (Nutt) Herpel on June 7, 1986.

Larry proudly served his country during the Korean War. While residing in Fennimore, he was a trucker for 25 years working at Ruan, Country Delight, and Sawyer Transportation. He enjoyed working on his truck, hunting, fishing, and playing cards. After moving to Duluth, MN, he worked for various trucking companies; Walco Transportation and Senske Transportation retiring in 2009. Larry took on a part time job with Stars & Stripes Tools. He was an active member of the Sorbes United Methodist Church in Duluth, MN.

Larry is survived by his two children; Dixie Moore Finley (Terry) of Sun Prairie, WI, Randy (Maggie) Herpel of Fennimore, WI, two step children; Robert Nutt and Holly Nutt both of Duluth, MN, six grandchildren Amy Taylor and Andrea Kerl both of Sun Prairie, WI, Aaron (Sarah) Kerl of Middleton, WI, Nick (Alysha) Herpel of Deforest, WI, Scott Herpel of Highland, WI, Chad (Andrea) Herpel of Madison, WI, three step grandchildren; Amanda, Robbie (Jordan) and Harley Nutt of Kingsville, MD, four great-grandchildren; Johnathan and Benjamin Kerl, and Taylor and Boston Herpel. He is also survived by his four sisters; Pearl Turner of Sheboygan, WI, Janet (John) Baumiester of Pinehurst, NC, Sandra (Michael) Carlisle of Belle Chase, LA, Linda (Deane) Cornell of Boscobel, WI and a special friend Tom C. Waltz of Boscobel, WI along with many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in by his parents Mildred and Lawrence Herpel, his former wife Darlus (Herpel) Fuhs, nephew Bryce Turner and brother-in-law Lloyd Turner.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held from 11:30 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday June 15, 2019 at the Fennimore American Legion Annex. A memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Larry G. Herpel. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
