Fennimore, WI-John B. “JB” Crowley age 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday April 6, 2016. John was born on January 5, 1943 in Richland Center the son of John J. and Lois (Rice) Cowley. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 until 1965 having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
John was united in marriage to Rita McNamara On Aug. 17, 1968 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Boscobel. Graduating from U.W. Whitewater with a business degree in 1970, John started at State Farm Insurance as a Claims Adjuster. Continuing with State Farm, he became an Agent for 32 years in Fennimore.Belonging to several organizations and clubs, he was most proud of being past commander of the American Legion Post #184 in Fennimore. John enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, and his annual hunting trips to Montana with family and friends. He was a good story and joke teller and loved doing both while out in the community, and then later with his Grandsons.
John is survived by his beloved wife Rita of Fennimore, children; Shane & Misty Crowley of Fennimore, Joe & Michele McCabe of Livingston, Grandsons; Taron and Trasen Crowley, brother Michael (Marshia) Crowley of Boulder Junction, two sisters; Clare (Bill) Kerwin of Waunakee and Lois (Terry) Hanson of Fitchburg, three sister-in-laws; Joan (Charles) Kohlhaas of Ferryville, Patsy (Don) McGuire and Mary Ann Mellem both of Prairie du Chien, very special cousins Lyle and Shirley Wetter of Fennimore and several nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Ricky will truly miss him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, father and mother-in-law Joseph and Mary McNamara, brother-in-law Robert Anderson, niece Laurie Anderson, and his beloved dog Dandy with whom he is now reunited.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday April 9, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Friday April 8, 2016 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of John B. Crowley.
