Joe D. Fitzsimmons

Montfort, WI-Joseph Daniel Fitzsimmons, age 58 of Montfort, WI died with his beloved wife by his side on Sunday July 22, 2012 at his residence in Montfort. Joe was born on Oct. 23, 1953 in Dodgeville, WI the son of Harold & Mary (McKernan) Fitzsimmons. He was united in marriage to Donelle Pluemer on June 7, 1975 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort.

Joe went to work for Fend-All in Platteville with his brother for two years until being employed at Skyline Corp. in Lancaster as a production manager since the spring of 1976. He thoroughly loved working with both past and present employees. Joe enjoyed deer hunting, working in his sausage kitchen, and traveling to such places as Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, and Hawaii. He was a member of the NRA, a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club, and was most proud of his membership in the KCBS where he became a certified judge. Joe’s strength, generosity to his family, neighbors and friends, his demonstration of selflessness, and his willingness to help others will never be forgotten.

Joe is survived by his “Sunshine”; Donelle of Montfort, eight siblings; Pete Fitzsimmons, Betty (Ron) Fitzsimmons, Laura Linder, Marina (Ron) Horst, Henry (Kathy) Fitzsimmons, Margie Martin, Linda (Dan) Hooks, and Edith Fitzsimmons. He is also survived by his sister & brother-in-laws; Nancy (Gary) Breeding, Kathy (Dave Jr.) Kite, MaryAnn (Vernon) Lenzendorf, Christine (Doug) Bartow, Donny (Julie) Pluemer, Barbara Pluemer, John Pluemer and friend Deanna Heberer, and step sister’s & brother’s; Linda (Mike) Vosberg, John (Emma) McWilliams, Dan (Kay) McWilliams, Tim (Carol) McWilliams, Julie (Mike) Kleckner and several nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great great nieces & nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Eleanor and Donald Pluemer, brother Doug Fitzsimmons, two sisters Mary Abdoo & Peggy Kilbreth, three nephews Brad Pertzborn, Rick Kilbreth, Walter Linder, brother-in-law John Martin, and a step mother-in-law Eileen Pluemer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday July 25, 2012 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort, WI with a private burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date. Father Ken Frisch will be officiating. Friends may call from 4-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church on Wednesday morning. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort is assisting the family.

In lieu of plants & flowers memorials may be given to the U.W. Carbon Cancer Center to be used for Pancreatic Cancer research or the Upland Hills Hospice Caring Baskets.
