JoAnn E. Hopper, age 64, of Fennimore, WI passed peacefully on Friday February 4, 2022, at Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. She was born on February 6, 1957, in Dodgeville the daughter of Charles and LaVerne (Heacock) Ley. She was united in marriage to Michael Hopper in 1978 until going their separate ways in 1989.
JoAnn proudly served in the United States Army enlisting on July 25, 1977, until being honorably discharged on June 19, 1981. She worked as a secretary for the law firm of Kinney, Urban, and Kussmaul in Lancaster for 20 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing crafts, watching the Green Bay Packers and reading Stephen King Novels. JoAnn will be remembered for her big heart and willingness to always help others.
JoAnn is survived by her two sons: Michael (Amanda) Hopper of Auburn, ME, and Brian Hopper of Fennimore, two grandchildren: Parker Hopper and Anthony Green, four siblings; Mike (Sandy) Ley of Littleton, CO, Cindy (Mike) Carl of Stitzer, Charles Ley of Leadville, CO, and Daniel (Anna) Ley of Livingston, three sisters-in-law; Penny Ley of Lakeville, MN, Cora Ley of Killeen, TX, Joyce Ley of Livingston, along with many nieces and nephews.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers: Ron, Arthur, and Ken Ley.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening February 9, 2022, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon.
