Janett E. Draggs, age 73 of Fennimore, passed away on Monday evening July 9, 2018 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society after a courageous six year battle with lung cancer. Janett was born on August 17, 1944 in Fennimore the daughter of Lyle and Mildred (Clark) Cohen. Jan was married on Sept. 21, 1962 to John H. Draggs and together they had two sons; Christopher and Mikel.
Jan enjoyed cooking and sewing projects and spending time with family and friends. She also went on numerous mission trips throughout the U.S. including Biloxi, Mississippi, Florida, South Carolina, Hawaii and youth camps at Westfield, WI. She was active in church activities including the United Methodist Women and Bible Study.
Prior to retiring in the Fennimore area in 1995, Jan worked various jobs as she and her husband moved around the U.S. building power plants for thirty years. Accounting and engineering assignments were her favorites. No matter what the work she kept a positive Christian attitude and fit in well with the workforce.
Jan is survived by her beloved husband John of Fennimore; sons Christopher (Rita) Draggs of London, Arkansas and Mikel (Jequetta) Draggs of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, granddaughter Erin and sisters; Evelyn Johnsrud of Fennimore and Donna Grunenwald of Livingston.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and brother Marlyn Cohen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday morning, July 12, 2018 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Thursday morning. In Lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Janett E. Draggs. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
