Mt Hope, WI-James Carmody, age 59 died on Wednesday afternoon Oct. 1, 2014 at his residence in Mt Hope after a courageous battle with cancer. James was born on June 29, 1955 in Boscobel, WI the son of Leo & Blanche (Richter) Carmody. He was united in marriage to Lois Dressler on Aug. 22, 1981 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church.
James was employed by Mark Nichols while in high school and continued following graduation until 1980. He then worked for B&B Construction, Ed and Gary Freymiller Construction, Orval Koschkee, and 3M before being employed at Milk Specialties Global for the past 23 years. Despite working full time, James continued farming his entire life. James enjoyed deer hunting, playing cards with family and friends, and had a passion for Oliver tractors. He was a gentle giant who was always willing to help others and never quick to judge. His love and respect for family, ability to fix anything, and sense of humor will forever be cherished.
James is survived by his beloved wife Lois of Mt Hope, two children; Megan (Brian) Fierst of Green Bay and John Carmody of Mt Hope, and sister Mary Ann Carmody of Mt Hope.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday Oct. 4, 2014 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church Mt Hope Township Grant Co., WI with burial to follow in the church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday Oct. 3, 2014 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore where a Parish Rosary will be said at 8:00 P.M. on Friday evening.
