Henry "Joe" Zifka

Henry “Joe” Zifka, age 82, of Stitzer, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday evening December 4, 2019, at his residence in Stitzer. He was born on January 4, 1937, in the son of Stephen “Zip” and Viola (Hirsch) Zifka.

Henry graduated from Fennimore High School in 1955 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years in Korea. After being honorable discharged he returned home and worked for the Grant County Highway Department and retired in 1998 after 20 years of service.

Henry enjoyed playing high school baseball and continued his love of the game by playing fast pitch softball for many years. He also was an avid hunter, enjoyed traveling, listening to country music, along with being a big fan of Wisconsin sports teams.

Henry is survived by his sister Irene (Melvin) Weisheit of Rockford, IL, and his brother Darrel (Carolyn) Zifka of Ennis, MT, along with a nephew, two nieces, and 17 great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Patrick Zifka.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday afternoon Dec. 11, 2019 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial to follow in the St. Paul Liberty Ridge Church Cemetery in Liberty Township Grant County, Wisconsin with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Henry “Joe” Zifka.
