Gaylord M. LaMere

LANCASTER – Gaylord M. LaMere, age 68, passed away on Friday March 6, 2026, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque. He was born on July 27, 1957, the son of Raymond and Ivanelle (Pascoe) LaMere.

Gaylord grew up in Lancaster and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1976. He began working right away, holding a variety of jobs over the years. Gaylord has always been a dedicated, hard worker. He was employed at Rayovac, Schurman’s Cheese, and Lands’ End, where he eventually retired. When the kids were young, Gaylord owned and operated LaMere Small Motors. Later on, he began his second business, Southwest Distributors, delivering cheese and other goods to businesses all over SW Wisconsin.

Gaylord loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his grandkids and looked forward to attending their sporting events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting and participating in fantasy football. Gaylord loved old cars, muscle cars, and attending car shows.

Gaylord is survived by his children, Eric (Ariel) LaMere and Jessica (Scott Hurda) LaMere and grandchildren: Alex and Ayden LaMere, Evan and Trevor Hurda and Taylor Knight. He is further survived by his siblings: Janet (Terry) McCann, Alice Moore, and James (Sandra) LaMere; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis LaMere; nephew, Craig LaMere; and brother-in-law, Paul Moore.

Following the graveside service, everyone is invited for food and fellowship at the Beetown Town Hall.
