Gary R. Kroll

Gary R. Kroll, age 64, of Arlington, died on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison surrounded by family and loved ones. Gary was born on Dec. 5, 1952, in Dodgeville, WI the son of Cletus and Betty (Nechvatal) Kroll.

Gary graduated from Fennimore High School with the class of 1971. He received a degree in Ag Mechanics from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore. He purchased the family farm south of Preston from his parents in 1982 and farmed until selling in 1996. Gary then went to work for FS Frontier in Cobb and Sturgeon Bay before transferring to FS in Arlington where he was employed in plant operations. He enjoyed all aspects of farming, especially planting and harvesting crops as well as caring for his dairy herd. Gary took great pleasure in barbequing chicken for family and friends. He liked to have a good time and cherished the friendships he made along the way.

Gary is survived by his four children; Jeremy (Tashina) Kroll of Mt. Horeb, Kelly (John) Foley of Belleville, Becky (Randy) Vander Heiden of Monona and Jamie (Jodie) Kroll of Evansville; eight grandchildren, Ava and Max Foley, Emerson and Raven Kroll, Vaughn and Parks Vander Heiden and Roman and Hattie Kroll, mother Betty Kroll of Fennimore and sisters; Diane (Bruce) Novinska of Lansing, IA, Christy (Bill) Kirschbaum of Stitzer and Donna (Phil) Edge of Belleville and former wife, Mary Lou (Gary) Olson.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Cletus Kroll on May 29, 2000.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with Father Tom Kelley officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon. Following the memorial service, a gathering to celebrate Gary's life will be held at Cheers II in Preston. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Gary R. Kroll.
