Montfort – Fern Marion Kreul, age 83, passed away on Sunday morning, Oct. 22, 2017, at Bloomfield Manor in rural Dodgeville. Fern was born May 18, 1934 in Dodgeville the daughter of Jacob and Violet (Williams) Frederickson. On November 22, 1952, Fern married the love of her life, John Kreul at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Highland.
Fern worked at Peggy’s Place Day Care in Montfort, and later did babysitting in her home. She also worked in food service, with her daughter Connie, at the Castle Rock Inn, Rayovac, Southwest Technical College and the Hodan Center. Fern loved being by her husband’s side and enjoyed mowing area cemeteries. Fern was a devoted wife, loving mother, and one heck of a grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, loved picnics at Blackhawk and shopping trips. Fern also liked having people stop by her home for a quick chat or an afternoon visit and was always ready for a game of cards.
Fern is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years; John Kreul of Montfort; four children, Theresa (Harold) Pink of Highland, John (Kathy) Kreul of Highland, Peggy Johnson (Mike Kohl) of Montfort, and Jim (Chris) Kreul of Reedsburg, 10 grandchildren; Alicia (Mitchell) Ziolkowski, Michael Grainger, Tim Kreul, Amy (Mike) Murphy, Emily (Kevin) Brogley, Sara and Jenny Grainger, Becky Pink, Alex and Mariah Kreul, three great grandchildren; Elliza, Nallia, and Evan, sister Della Norby of Montfort and brother Earl Frederickson of Stevens Point.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents and daughter and son-in-law Connie and Pat Shemak, brother Jim Frederickson and sister Betty Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday Oct. 28, 2017 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday evening Oct. 27, 2017 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort where a Parish Rosary prayer will be held at 3:30 P.M on Friday afternoon.
