Fennimore, WI-Evelyn M. Stenner, age 88, died unexpectedly on Monday Dec. 19, 2016 at her residence in Fennimore. She was born on May 10, 1928 in Mt. Ida Township, Grant County, WI, the daughter of Fred and Cora (Mauntz) Wehrle. Evelyn was united in marriage to Ralph Stenner on Aug. 3, 1945 in Zwingle, IA.
Evelyn and Ralph farmed in Marion Township until 1957. Upon moving to Fennimore, she began working as a waitress at Phoebe’s Truck Stop and then Briehl’s Café. Evelyn’s enjoyment for cooking and baking lead her to operate the Napp’s Motel Café and then the Fenway Café. Evelyn later babysat in her home for many children in Fennimore and worked at Casey’s preparing pastries. Most of all, Evelyn adored her family and enjoyed talking with them to ensure all were well. Evelyn was a loving and protective mother, demonstrated selflessness and enjoyed taking care of others. Evelyn’s devotion to her family and caring ways will be cherished forever.
Evelyn is survived by her two children, David (Ann) Stenner of Fennimore and Todd (Bonnie) Stenner of Boscobel, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Connie Stenner of Dodgeville, and several special nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph on Aug. 19, 1994, two sons Dennis “Louie” Stenner and Duane Stenner, four brothers Harles, Lavern, Roger and Donovan Wehrle and sister Marcella Cohen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday Dec. 23, 2016 at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday morning.
