Donald F. Boatman, age 85 of Boscobel, WI formerly of Lena, IL passed away on Monday morning July 26, 2021 at the Boscobel Care and Rehabilitation. He was born on March 13, 1936 in Darlington, WI the son of Francis and Catherine (Wedige) Boatman. Don was united in marriage to Kathy Achenbach on September 24, 1982 at Mt. Carroll, IL.
Don attended school in Shullsburg, WI and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. After being honorable discharged, he returned home and joined the workforce. He was employed at Amerock Corporation in Rockford for several years working in sales. After his marriage to Kathy, they resided in Lena, IL and he later worked as a property manager in Freeport, IL. Don and Kathy retired and relocated to Boscobel in 2012. Not having children of his own, Don became that awesome stepfather and grandfather that was so greatly appreciated. He has left many of them with priceless memories that they will cherish forever.
Don is survived by his wife of 38 years; Kathy Boatman of Boscobel, two children Chris (Bambi) Wagner of Lena, IL, and Nicole (Michael) Williams of Ham Lake, MN four grandchildren; Melissa Wagner, Christopher (Cassie) Wagner, Alexandria Pearson and Wyatt Pearson, two step grandchildren Alyssa Williams and Paige Williams, and a step great grandson Gunner Hillman.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosemary Bird and brother Dennis Boatman.
At the request of Don and honoring his wishes, there will be no formal memorial services held in his memory. Memorials may be given to the Boscobel Rescue Squad in loving memory of Donald Boatman. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful compassion and care shown to Don during his stay at the Boscobel Care and Rehabilitation.
