Dolores Griswold, age 93, of Livingston, Wisconsin, passed away on March 31, 2018 at All Saints Assisted Living in Madison, Wisconsin.
The daughter of William and Ruby Beerkircher, Dolores was born on October 8, 1924 in Linden, Wisconsin. She married Theodore “Ted” Griswold in 1941.
A true lady, Dolores leaves a legacy of service, kindness and generosity of spirit. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was active in her local church and community. She helped her husband build and grow a renowned cattle business, she was a member of the United Methodist Women’s League and the Rock Church Society, and she volunteered at the election polls well into her 80s. Dolores was a gracious and gentle soul who loved music, nature and time spent with family and friends. A consummate homemaker, she created delicious meals and family memories that won’t soon be forgotten.
Dolores is survived by her children, Joe (Elaine) Griswold of Stillwater, Okla., Linda Griswold of Madison; Kathy Griswold of Madison; Patrick (Jane) Griswold of Dallas, Texas; and Mary Griswold of Clinton/Arapaho, Oklahoma. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: John, Gregory, Garfield, Joseph, David, Melanie, Lisa, Geof, Matthew, Erik, Rachel, Angela, Tyson and Chelsee. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren, her brothers Gary Beerkircher of Waukesha and William Beerkircher of Loganville, as well as a special nephew, Chris (Kim) Kupper of McAllen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; a sister, Mozelle Gzik, and a granddaughter, Regina.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 7 from 9:30 to 11 a.m at United Methodist Church in Livingston, with a service for family and friends at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Rock Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of All Saints for the kindness, care and comfort they provided in Dolores’ final months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been set up in Dolores’ name to support both the Montfort Rescue Squad (505 S. Wall St., Montfort, WI 53569) and the Lewy Body Dementia Association (912 Killian Hill Road, S.W. Lilburn, GA 30047) to support research and outreach. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home of Montfort is assisting the family.
