Dianne L. (Howell) Turtenwald

Dianne Lynette (Howell) Turtenwald, age 74, of Fennimore, WI passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 4, 2022, at her residence, leaving this world, loving you.

Dianne was the first daughter of George and Geneva (Lee) Howell born on January 12, 1948, in Boscobel. She grew up in Fennimore and graduated from Fennimore High School in 1966.

Dianne was the first 16-year-old girl in our area to drive a dump truck for her dad at Concrete Products, Inc. She met Keith Fry hauling sand and gravel to Fennimore and they were married on September 17, 1966. Kowalski-Kieler Inc. bought out Concrete Products in the fall of 1968 and Dianne stayed as dispatcher and bookkeeper for 15 years. Dianne then hauled balk milk from farm to cheese factories for Kenny Bahl-Bahl’s Milk Hauling for eight years. She also worked at Advance Transformer in Boscobel for five years before moving to Muskego and marring Dennis Turtenwald on March 2, 1997. Dianne was a lighting consultant for B.B.C. Lighting in Milwaukee for 15 years until she retired in May of 2010 and moved back to Fennimore to be closer to her family.

Dianne loved her family, her dear friends, and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed camping, boating, gambling casinos, bingo, country music on the radio, a cold beer and visiting with everyone.

Dianne is survived by her husband of 25 years, Dennis, son Chad (Stacy) Fry and daughter Jessie (Roger) Strack all of Fennimore, five grandchildren: Shanda (Jake) Bindl of Madison, Brett (Christal Bean) Strack, Wesley, Brayden and Eden Fry all of Fennimore, her faithful feline friend Gracie Lynn, two sisters: Connie Rosemeyer of Madison and Georgia Schultz of Fennimore, two stepchildren: Greg Turtenwald of Greenfield, and Traci (Rick) Kaczmarski of Brookfield, three step grandchildren: Austin and Aidan Kaczmarski and Tyler Turtenwald,  stepmother Kathryn Howell of Galena, KS and stepsister Judy Duden of Colby, KS.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, George and Geneva Howell, two brothers-in-law: Tom Rosemeyer and Willy Schultz.

Visitation will be held from 11:00-3:00 P.M. on Sunday April 10, 2022, at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 P.M.  at the Prairie Cemetery in Fennimore. A “Celebration of Life” for Dianne, Grandma or “Ester”, with food and drinks will follow the graveside service at the Hilltop Tavern, and All Are Welcome! The Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore is assisting the family.
