Montfort, WI-Charles F. “Chuck” Sickles, age 59, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday morning Nov. 5, 2016 at his residence in Montfort after his resilient battle with cancer. Chuck was born on July 17, 1957 in Dubuque, IA the son of Russell and Leila “Lee” (Scott) Sickles. He was united in marriage to Jayne Gundlach on July 15, 1983 at the Montfort United Methodist Church.
Chuck graduated from Fennimore High School in 1976 and then attended Southwest Technical College enrolling in the Tool and Die program. He worked at Daleo Machining Inc. (DMI) in Platteville for over 23 years until having to retire due to his declining health. Chuck was so special in so many ways and adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He believed in leading by example and loved teaching his grandchildren to hunt and fish. Chuck was an awesome cook that spared no expense when preparing for holidays and birthdays. He also loved his motorcycle, collecting guns, making homemade knives and gunstocks. His family and friends meant the world to Chuck and the love he has shown will continue on and live in our hearts forever.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Jayne of Montfort; four children, Missy (Phil) Jinkins of Livingston, Jason (Jen) McIntosh of Montfort, Ani Sickles (Jon Heineman) of Montfort and Charles R. Sickles of Montfort; four grandchildren; Paige and Gavin Jinkins, Jalen Lehman and Karstyn McIntosh; father Russell Sickles of Wapiti, WY; siblings, Rhonda (Jeff) Ready of New Lisbon, Angie (Chad) Ball of Wapiti, WY, Laura (Choya) Harden of Ashville, NC and Russell Sickles; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Mark (Lisa) Gundlach of Monticello, Marsha (Tom) Hineline of Verona, Julie Hynes of Oregon, Steve Gundlach of Montfort, Scott (Paulette) Gundlach of Lancaster, Sue (Duane) Kurth of Dodgeville, Tom Gundlach of Montfort, Tim (Melitte) Gundlach of Mineral Point, Tony (Lisa) Gundlach of Lancaster, and Troy Gundlach of Mineral Point; his dog “Ki Man” many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Vernon and Mary Ann Lenzendorf, Doug and Chris Bartow, Tom and Julie Nelson, Tim Miller, and Bill and Nancy Lamke.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother Leila “Lee” Sickles, father and mother-in-laws Charles and Marcene Gundlach, brother-in-law Randy Hynes, niece Autumn Dressen, and his special dogs; Bella, Pepe and Yoshi.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday November 11, 2016 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort with burial to follow in the Rock Church Cemetery in rural Livingston. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday evening Nov. 10, 2016 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday morning.
