Celine A. Schaefer

Celine A. Schaefer, age 92, died on Monday morning March 4, 2019 at the Orchard Manor in Lancaster, WI. She was born on Nov. 20, 1926 in Dickeyville, WI the daughter of Nicholas and Loretta (Schardt) Timmerman. Celine was united in marriage to Homer Schaefer on Oct. 7, 1947 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kieler, WI.

Celine and Homer began farming in the Platteville, Belmont and south of Dickeyville areas until purchasing a farm in Hickory Grove Township rural Fennimore in 1966. She farmed with her husband and family by their side until they retired and moved to Fennimore in 1997. Celine, Homer and family and was sure to end every hard days work with a time of prayer. Dedicated to her Lord, Celine shared her passion of prayer by making over 5000 rosaries for missions, family and friends. She also enjoyed working in her gardens, canning, making bread, pudding, apple pies and dumplings, along with sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed music and in her younger years played guitar and being in a band. Celine will be remembered for her wonderful cooking, fun personality and quick wit and will be forever remembered by all her family and friends.

Celine is survived by her nine children; Carol (Paul) Kaster of Friendship, Kenneth (Mary) Schaefer of Muscoda, David (Sherry) Schaefer of Fennimore, Harold (Janis) Schaefer of Fennimore, Mary Jane Weist of Mount Horeb, Earl Schaefer of Fennimore, Mary Kay Fisher of Clarksville, TN, Marlene (Michael) Sitts of Breckenridge, TX, Dale (Tina) Schaefer of Platteville, 26 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, sister Katie (Irvin) Abing of Tennyson, brother Justin Timmerman of Dickeyville, three sister-in-laws; Irene Timmerman of Platteville, Margie Timmerman of Dickeyville, and Mary Ellen (Tom) O’Brien of Crystal Lake, IL, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Celine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Homer, three sons; Phillip, John and Infant Marvin, four brothers; Joe, Henry, James, and William Timmerman, sister Rosemary Oyen, brother-in-law Harold Oyen and sister-in-law JoAnn Timmerman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday March 7, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fennimore with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:30 A.M. until time of service at the church hall on Thursday morning. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
